For Graduate Students In Other Programs at UCLA, Register for the Gender Studies Concentration

Completing the concentration, from programs across the campus including the sciences, adds an interdisciplinary perspective to your career plans and goals.  Claudia Rodriguez-Zinn fulfilled the concentration requirements while completing her degree in as a pediatric nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist, and here is what she has to say about that experience:

“After nearly a decade in pediatrics, I came to UCLA to become a pediatric nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist. I came to UCLA because I knew that I would be surrounded by the greatest minds in nursing and give me access to a cutting edge education. The UCLA School of Nursing delivered but my Gender Studies concentration certificate transformed me in ways that will forever impact my work and further academia. This certificate provided a bridge across disciplines and created opportunities of learning and exchange that I never expected. This experience challenged me to see and discuss issues of intersectionality, not only in healthcare, but our society as a whole and strengthen my resolve to be an agent of equity, anti-oppression and justice.  I highly encourage all graduate students to consider these amazing interdisciplinary opportunities and maximize their potential at UCLA.”
