Professor Sharon Traweek receives The Society for Social Studies of Science Bernal Award

The Society for Social Studies of Science has bestowed on Professor Sharon Traweek the prestigious Bernal prize. The prize was awarded in recognition of Professor Traweek’s “transnational reputation” and her life-long contributions to the social study of science. Her writings, the Award committee observes, “are taught in graduate programs around the world”and she is a ” key reference in studies that examine how scientists are socialized in different cultural contexts.” Sharon’s “pioneering methods, helped to introduce ethnography, cultural analysis, gender and feminist theory into social science studies since the 1980s.” Her mentorship of younger scholars and her intellectual generosity are also praised.  Congratulations Sharon!
