Biography

Taryn Marcelino is a doctoral student who has interests in visual studies, cultural studies, queer of color critique and European migrant cultures. Her previous research examined transnational art that complicated the role of the hijab in French public space. Her current research focuses on racialized minorities in France, and the role that the figure of the refugee and migrant play in constructing the contemporary imaginary of the ideal French citizen through cultural spaces. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology- International Studies with a minor in French Literature from the University of California, San Diego.
