Han, “Singing from the margins,” The Immanent Frame: Secularism, Religion, and the Public Sphere (2019)
Ju Hui Judy Han
As part of a forum on social inequality in/and religious studies, Ju Hui Judy Han’s post “Singing from the margins” was published on The Immanent Frame: Secularism, Religion, and the Public Sphere blog by the Social Science Research Council (January 24, 2019). She recounts an encounter with anti-queer protesters at the Korea Queer Culture Festival in 2017 and urges scholars to “find life-affirming ways to teach religion and teach queer studies and emphasize not only how faith can fuel homophobia but also how faith might embolden profound hospitality.”
