Keynote Marion Buller on “The Future of Justice and Reparations for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls”

This event is co-sponsored by the Racial Violence Hub of the Penny Kanner Endowed Chair in Gender Studies, UCLA’s American Indian Studies Center, the Center for the Study of Women, UCLA Law’s Native Nations Law & Policy Center, Climate Rights International, UCLA’s Luskin Endowment for Thought Leadership and the Luskin Center for History and Policy.

Judge Buller will speak on the future of justice and reparations for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls following the National Inquiry. Julissa Mantilla, Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Commissioner will follow her remarks with a perspective from the IACHR.

Marion Buller is a judge and human rights advocate who helped form the First Nations Courts in British Columbia and is the first woman Indigenous judge in Canada. She was the Chief Commissioner for the Canadian National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. She is currently Chancellor of the University of Victoria, BC.
