Gender Studies Professor Shannon Speed Receives UCLA Marty Sklar My Last Lecture Award

Gender Studies congratulates Professor Shannon Speed recipient of the 2023 UCLA Marty Sklar My Last Lecture Award.  This is the only student voted UCLA award that this year had more than 3,500 votes asking students “who is a professor that inspires you?”

This is a longstanding UCLA tradition that began more than 60 years ago when notable UCLA professors were given the chance to put all their life lessons and advice for students into one “last lecture.” In 2010, the Alumni Scholars Club (ASC) in collaboration with the UCLA Alumni Association brought back this tradition through the Marty Sklar My Last Lecture Award aimed to honor a professor who inspires students through their work.
